Emma’s heart pounded as she turned towards her grandfather for more answers and stared
at him, who looked weary yet determined. His voice, though calm, carried a weight of sorrow, hurry and urgency: ‘The manor holds dark secrets Emma. Secrets I tried to protect you from,” he began. “But it’s time you know the truth.”

Emma held Max close as her
grandfather continued “Your grandmother… she wasn’t who
you thought she was. She was a witch, consumed by greed and
hunger for power. She dabbled in
dark rituals, believing they would
make her immortal.”

Emma’s chest tightened. “But why?
Why us?”

“Because you were born blessed,
Emma. You possess light and purity
that witches covet. Your grandmother needed a sacrifice-
someone pure and innocent-to
complete her ritual and become
unstoppable. She planned to sacrifice you.”

Emma gasped. “But Buddy..

Her grandfather’s eyes softened. “I
knew I had to protect you. That’s why I gifted Buddy to you. Dogs are loyal protectors, guardians against evil. Buddy was no ordinary dog-he was bound to you by love and magic.”

Emma’s mind spun with questions
“But if she’s gone, why are we still in
danger?”

Her grandfather sighed deeply
“Because before I stopped her, she
cursed this manor. She locked her
dark magic into an object hidden
somewhere inside. As long as that
rune remains, the curse will grow stronger, and you’ll never be safe.”

Emma’s hands trembled. “What do
we do?”

“You and Max must find the cursed
object and destroy it. Only you two
can end this. But beware-her spirit
still lingers. She will do everything in
her power to stop you.”

Max growled, sensing the growing
darkness.

“Where do we start?” Emma asked
her voice steady despite her fear.

Her grandfather stepped closer. “The manor will guide you. Trust your
instincts. But remember-this curse
cost your parents their lives. Your
grandmother used her powers to
orchestrate their accident.”

Tears welled in Emma’s eyes. Her
parents’ deaths were not random.
They had died protecting her.

Grandpa’s voice turned urgent. “Go
now. Time is running out. The curse
is waking.”

With a nod, Emma and Max ventured deeper into the manor, knowing the fate of their souls-and their loved ones–rested on their shoulders.

As they walked down the dim
hallway, Emma glanced at the eerie
portraits lining the walls. Her
childhood memories resurfaced,
painting a picture of love, loss, and
betrayal.

Max barked, his gaze fixed on a dark
corner of the room.

And then, they heard it-a whisper,
chilling and familiar.

“I have been waiting for you.”
